The Aurora Ball is a cherished annual fundraising event hosted by the Aurora Group, a non-profit charity dedicated to supporting and advocating for LGBTQIA+ communities and marginalised individuals across New South Wales and Australia. In 2023, the event returned with its dazzling theme, Welcome to Burlesque, delivering an unforgettable evening of performance, storytelling and generosity.

Designed to both celebrate and fundraise, the event brought together supporters, partners and community leaders in a vibrant show of unity and pride. CAPITAL-e supported the delivery of a high-impact gala experience that balanced entertainment with meaningful moments that reinforced the purpose behind the night.

Designing for Celebration and Impact

The Burlesque theme came to life through captivating performances from community members and immersive styling that transformed the venue into a theatrical, high-energy space. A highlight of the evening was a powerful address by esteemed Aurora Founder and 78er, Robyn Laverack, grounding the celebration in the history and ongoing advocacy of the LGBTQIA+ movement.

Live fundraising moments, including a raffle, auction and direct donations, were seamlessly integrated into the program — maintaining energy in the room while encouraging generous participation.

Meaningful Outcomes for the LGBTQIA+ Community

The 2023 Aurora Ball raised an impressive $250,000 for the Amplified Pride Fund, directly supporting programs and initiatives that empower LGBTQIA+ individuals across NSW and Australia.

Beyond the funds raised, the evening reinforced the Aurora Group’s commitment to fostering inclusion, safety and visibility. The result was a powerful celebration of unity and compassion, strengthening community connection while driving tangible impact for those who need it most.
